Running Bliss at Beachwalk Sanur: Indonesia’s Most Beautiful Beachside Track
There’s something magical about running with the sound of gentle waves beside you and the salty breeze brushing against your face. My recent running experience at Beachwalk Sanur, Bali, Indonesia, felt like a dream — and in my opinion, it’s the most beautiful running track along the beach in the country.
Sanur is known for its laid-back charm, traditional fishing boats, and calm beaches, but it also offers something special for fitness enthusiasts: a scenic beachwalk that stretches for several kilometers along the coastline. This paved pathway is perfect for running, jogging, or even a relaxed morning stroll. It runs parallel to the shoreline, giving you uninterrupted views of the ocean as you move.
One of the things that makes Beachwalk Sanur stand out is its tranquil atmosphere. Unlike the busier, party-centric beaches in Bali, Sanur offers a quieter, more peaceful vibe. Early in the morning, the path is populated by friendly locals, dedicated joggers, and tourists starting their day with a sunrise walk. The peacefulness makes it easier to find your rhythm and enjoy the surroundings.
Running along this track during sunrise is an experience in itself. The sky transforms into a canvas of orange, pink, and gold as the sun peeks over the horizon. The reflections on the calm waters of the Bali Sea create a surreal, almost meditative environment. It’s not just a workout — it’s a way to connect with nature and start the day with gratitude.
Along the way, you’ll pass by charming beachside cafés, traditional fishing boats known as jukung, and small temples where locals place their morning offerings. The mix of cultural elements and natural beauty makes each run feel unique. Every turn of the path offers a new view, a new scent of incense, or a fresh ocean breeze.
The track itself is well-maintained, wide enough for runners and walkers to share comfortably, and shaded in several areas by coconut trees and flowering frangipani. Benches and resting spots are placed thoughtfully along the route for those who wish to pause and soak in the views or snap a quick photo.
One of my favorite parts of the track is near the Mertasari Beach area, where the pathway feels especially serene. Here, you can spot fishermen preparing their nets in the early hours and sometimes even see glimpses of Mount Agung in the distance when the skies are clear. It’s moments like these that remind me why this is my go-to running spot in Bali.
Aside from its beauty, Beachwalk Sanur is also ideal for all fitness levels. Whether you’re an experienced runner aiming for distance or a casual jogger who loves a scenic backdrop, the track caters to everyone. Its relatively flat terrain makes it beginner-friendly, and the inviting environment encourages you to go a little farther each time.
After finishing a run, it’s a tradition of mine to reward myself with a fresh coconut or a healthy smoothie at one of the nearby cafés. Many beachfront establishments open early, so you can cool down while enjoying a well-earned drink with a view. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a refreshing workout.
If you’re a runner visiting Bali or a local looking for a new fitness escape, I highly recommend Beachwalk Sanur. It’s more than just a running track — it’s a scenic, cultural, and serene experience that’s good for both the body and the soul. Give it a try, and you might just find your new favorite running spot too.
